About the Sikh Parent Association

Our Mission

The Sikh Parent Association exists to be a connector–helping parents thrive through personal growth, resources and connection to one another.

Our Vision

  • Creating a space that allows parents to connect and learn from other another

  • Encouraging Sikh parents to be involved in the school system their child is a part of and also Punjabi Schools

  • Collaborating with other communities and organizations that offer support and resources

Our Story

Thanks for checking out the Sikh Parent Association! We personally know there are many joys and challenges that come along with the parenting journey.  The two of us met at the Punjabi school our kids were attending to learn their mother tongue. As parents, we opened up to each other around things we were struggling with; sometimes funny and often ideas not openly discussed.  We discovered we were not alone in our desire to be supported as parents while providing guidance to our own kids. We embarked on holding focus groups and meeting with other Sikh organizations and realized that there was a gap in supporting parents as many of us manage life in general.

We are excited to share resources, talk about all the things that support us as parents raising Sikh kids and encourage us to be part of a larger community wherever we may live. Our hope is to create a space where we can offer connection and dialogue whether you are a new or seasoned parent.

We hope to become an invaluable resource by sharing the wisdom and experiences of those in our Sikh community and the larger community. This website and the SPA newsletter is for anyone who has had challenges, joys and is navigating this unique parenting journey.

Doing something interesting or know of a resource that you want to share? Reach out to us at spa@sikhparentassociation.com.
